Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital has entered into an exciting new development phase.
An $8M building project commenced in October 2011, with the first stage to deliver a new Clinical Education Centre and Consulting Suites.
This multi-level building will accommodate consulting suites on the top floor, an education centre on the second level, executive, clinical and administrative support services on the ground floor and a 25 space car park at lower ground level.
General Manager Daniele Doyle said, “The Education Centre will increase the Hospital’s clinical training capacity for undergraduate students in the disciplines of Medicine and Nursing. Additionally it will allow for an increase in the academic support available to students.”
The teaching space and a range of simulation equipment will enable students to undertake clinical and academic training outside clinical settings.
Daniele Doyle continues, “The sophisticated IT network systems to be installed will have the capacity to broadcast information and procedures world-wide. Our Colorectal Surgeons have broadcast live procedures from our OT to convention centres in the past, to educate and share their surgical expertise. This is something we will continue to do - showcasing our Specialists and their expertise to an international audience”.
The next phase of the building project which will run simultaneously is the commissioning of 30 new beds – to bring the HSN bed capacity to 225 beds.
Daniele Doyle said, “Further to this, a 17 chair day oncology unit will be built in the Hospital to replace the current 9 bed unit. This new comprehensive cancer service, will allow for an integration of our medical and nursing services to support a full continuum of cancer care and service delivery to further support our patient community. This is a wonderful achievement and will improve The construction of the Education Centre and Consulting Suites is due for completion in October 2012.
